Read More »A few months ago I found out about the OXO brand Blogger Outreach Program which partners bloggers with OXO to get the word out about new products and ideas. Since I love their products, I promptly signed up to work with them. Then a couple of weeks ago I got an email from OXO telling me that teeny tiny foodie had been selected as one of the blogs to test out some new egg-related cooking tools they’ve created. I pretty much skipped around the rest of that day. The other day, Eliana and I came home and saw

Read More »Over the summer, Matt and I had a few date nights at home when we cooked pizza together. Previously, I’d always used pre-cooked pizza dough, but this summer we began using fresh pizza dough instead that we bought from the refrigerated section of the grocery store. We prefer to use whole-wheat dough like this one. Below are some tips and tricks we learned these last few months about cooking pizza using fresh dough, cooking it on the grill and baking it in the oven. Recipes are at the bottom of the post. General pizza-making tips and lessons learned when

Here are the changes I made to the recipe: · Instead of 1½ cups of all-purpose flour, I used 1 cup of whole-wheat flour and ½ cup of all-purpose flour. · I only had 1 banana so instead of 2 bananas and 1 medium apple, I used 1 banana and 1 large Crispin apple. The apple was really juicy so I added the juice to the wet ingredients
Read More »Typically during a meal, Eliana and I sit at the table and she feeds herself off her tray. We “talk” about what we are eating, what’s been happening that day or upcoming events. But, sometimes we get a little goofy and silly. At times, I even let her play around a little bit while she eats. I will let the pictures below tell most of this story. Lately, she has been really excited about her new OXO Tot brand high chair and likes to explore it, even when she isn’t eating. Sometimes these explorations continue into mealtime. Thankfully, the baked

So, I think this event is worthy of a departure…Her “Baby Pool Party” was all set to happen out on our deck. A rain date would be announced if needed since there is no way we were going to be able to fit 50 people in our apartment! Now, I know that this was Eliana’s first birthday party and she wouldn’t remember it and this party is really for the adults yeah,
Read More »Eggs are one of Eliana’s favorite foods. She will eat them any way they are served. I like eggs too, so I often make eggs as an easy go-to protein for our lunch during the week. Typically, I make a frittata for brunch over the weekend and, sometimes, I even make one for dinner. Eggs are relatively inexpensive, easy to cook and loved by this family so I keep a few dozen in the fridge. I typically like to buy Nature’s Yoke brand or the store brand of one of our local stores, Fairway– just as long as the eggs
Read More »For the last 6-8 weeks or so, Eliana has not been too keen on eating anything I try to feed her off a spoon. She is deeply offended by this concept. Why should she allow me to feed her when she can feed herself? She is a very independent little person. So, a new challenge has been figuring out what to do with all the frozen purees so she will eat them. Occasionally, she will let me feed her. But, it is either a puree she really loves and doesn’t care that I have to put it into her

Her “favorite” is hard to determine because she will taste something and then do her “Happy Flappy” move of arms flapping, heavy panting and butt-bouncing for a bunch of foods. Sometimes a food warrants that reaction one day, and not another. But, here is the list of foods that she has definitely been excited to eat. In no particular order, here are teeny tiny foodie’s Top Ten Favorites: Guacamole Holy

(See: The Bad-Revisited.) What has made this adventure fun is: creating recipes for her to eat, the ways in which she reacts to eating, and watching her get excited about food. It is also especially gratifying to see her like something now that she didn’t like before. Steamed carrots were not a huge hit the first time she had them a month or two ago. Last
